Pupils arrested with ‘space muffins’

Two more school pupils were arrested by Berea police on Monday at the same school where a boy was arrested with drugs hidden in his notebook.

TWO school pupils were arrested for a drug related crime by Berea police this week, at the same school where a boy was recently arrested with drugs hidden in his notebook.

According to Captain TD Gumede, communications officer at Berea police, the principal of the school contacted police on Monday after teachers discovered two boys with containers of muffins which had been laced with dagga.

The boys were allegedly trying to sell the “space muffins” to learners at school.

“Our members went to the school and arrested the two 14-year-old boys who were handed over into their parents' custody. We are very concerned about this matter as this is the second drug related incident at this school,” Gumede said.
