Dads and lads campout

Dads and lads are invited to take part in Durban's biggest campout next month.

THE Highway Hospice will host 'Durban’s biggest campout, the Dads & Lads Campout, on 21 November at the College Rovers Rugby fields.

“We are expecting dads and lads to pile in for a safe and unique night out to celebrate being men,” said John’o Olds, fundraising manager at Highway Hospice.

The campout is taking place during November which has become an awareness month for men’s health and related illness. Hospice provides care for the terminally ill while celebrating the life of their patients before imminent death.

“One of our patients most common regrets is not having spent enough quality or quantity time with loved ones. We thought this was an ideal platform to promote our cause and those healthy relationships,” said John’o.

Gather a team of campers and book your space on the hospice.co.za website. There is a facility to book a block to camp together, and you are encouraged to make the most of the evening with friends. Kids can jump on the inflatables, challenge dad to all kinds of skills challenges or sports. There will also be catered food and beverages for young and old with live music to top it all.

Gates open at 2pm for setup and close for vehicle access at 5pm for safety.

“There is also no rush to knock down early in the morning as we will encourage the guys to walk, swim, run or cycle on the beach. It is all about having fun with the kids!” said John’o.

There are already plans to break a world record at the 2016 Dads & Lads event but the Hospice fundraising team is very tight lipped with details.

Costs are R50 per tent and R50 per camper with a maximum of four campers per tent. There are a limited number of tents which can be hired from Highway Hospice should you not have one. Call John’o on 031 208 6110 or visit www.hospice.co.za or like on Facebook and join in.
