Get ready for Summer with KZN’s premier triathlon

KICKING off this summer is the CompliMed Midlands Ultra Triathlon, KZN’s premier triathlon, on the weekend of 30 November and 1 December at Midmar Dam.

The CompliMed Midlands Ultra Triathlon caters for the whole family with the Kiddies Splash and Dash events on the Saturday and the corporate team relay, the sprint triathlon and the Ultra 1/2 ironman distance triathlon taking place on the Sunday.

On Saturday, children from five years old and older get to race in the Splash and Dash events. They do a swim in the clean waters of Midmar Dam followed by a run all within the Midmar reserve.

Sunday sees the individual sprint event kicking off at 6.50am, with the corporate team relay kicking off at 6.55am. At 7.20am the Ultra ½ ironman distance triathlon starts, taking swimmers on a 1.9km swim course before they head into the meandering hills of the Midlands.

There will be sporting stands, displays and food and drinks available the whole weekend.

Pre-entries for the sprint and ultra events will receive a goodie bag, event T-shirt and a custom swim cap for their event. There will be R40 000 in prize money to be won and R50 000 in prizes to be given away at prize giving.

I Care has also stepped behind the CompliMed Midlands Ultra Triathlon Series as the official charity in 2013 and will be managing race registration.
