Housebreaker arrested

A security officer apprehended a housebreaking suspect in Glenmore recently.

BLUE Security armed response officers arrested a housebreaker and recovered stolen goods, including a flat screen television, laptops and cellphones, in Glenmore last week.

Blue Security operations manager, Brian Jackson, said an armed response officer had noticed a suspicious-looking pedestrian in John Geekie Road at around 9.49am on Wednesday, and decided to stop and investigate.

“He advised the suspect that there had been a number of housebreakings in the area and that he wanted to check whether he had any stolen items on him,” Jackson said.

He said the armed response officer found two Nokia cellphones and a Samsung 4 on the suspect. The man tried to run away, but the armed reaction officer apprehended him and called for back-up.

“The suspect took our officers to the park in Feilden Drive and a red handbag, two laptops, a black bag, a wallet containing cash, laptop chargers and a camera were recovered. He then took them to a property in John Geekie Road, where a flat screen television was recovered,” he said.

Jackson said the housebreaker finally took the officers to the house in John Geekie Road which he had burgled.

“He had jumped over a back wall to gain access onto the property before removing louvre windows and forcing open burglar bars to break into the house. All of the items recovered had been stolen from the same property,” he said.

Jackson said the suspect was handed over to the SAPS, who took him to the Umbilo police station, where the resident opened a case of housebreaking.
