Support school cricketers

Local school cricket teams will take part in the Sunfoil 20/Twenty U11 tournament at Kearsney.

THE annual Sunfoil three-day 20/20 tournament, showcasing U11 cricketing talent in the province, will be played at Kearsney College and Highbury during the school holidays.

Sixteen teams are scheduled to take part in the Mynahs tournament, with 14 top primary school teams and two development sides, sponsored by the KZN Cricket Union, competing this year, including local school teams, DPHS Dragons, Clifton Chargers and Glenwood Hoppers.

Other participating schools are the Highbury Hurricanes, Hillcrest Hotshots, Kloof Cobras, Winston Park Pythons, Curro HCA Pinch Hitters, Westville Warriors, Northlanders, Umhlali Dolphins, Chelsea Lions, Pelham Panthers and St Charles Strikers from Pietermaritzburg, and the development sides, RPC Mambas and Sunfoil Tigers.

Teams will play in pools of eight and play seven games in the three days, so non-stop cricket is promised over the weekend.

The tournament kicks off on Friday, 2 October and runs through to Sunday, 4 October. Full catering facilities will be available at the Kearsney coffee shop.
