St Henry’s reaches out

St Henry's Marist College's outreach pupils showed pupils at the school what they are doing to help the less fortunate.

THE high school outreach programme at St Henry’s Marist College works with Lily of the Valley, Hammarsdale, where the children attend Hope Valley Farm School in Eston.

As part of the School Enterprise Challenge 2015, the Hope Valley Grade 11 business studies learners entered their business proposal, ‘Hope Ithemba Hope’, making bracelets and necklaces to raise funds for school resources and to reach out to underprivileged communities in the area. The project aims to develop students’ skills in problem-solving, communication, teamwork and aspiration.

This programme is an initiative of ‘Teach a Man to Fish’, in partnership with The Saville Foundation, Department of Education and Ithala Bank.

The young entrepreneurs presented their venture to the pupils at St Henry’s and showed a selection of what they make for sale.
