Violent protests shut down highways

The police will be meeting with protestors to find a way forward following service delivery protests in Durban.

VIOLENT protests caused major traffic back-ups yesterday as local communities embarked on a mass service delivery protest. Reports indicated that the N2/N3/M7/Spine Road and Cato Manor Roads were affected.

According to Colonel Jay Naicker from SAPS, the community embarked on a service delivery protest yesterday.

Traffic was backed up from Spaghetti Junction on the N3 as a result of the protest.

“No injuries were sustained and no arrests were made. Today community leaders are meeting with the community at a park in Stafford Road to discuss the way forward. Cato Manor police will monitor the meeting,” he said.
