Long wait for kick off for Bafana fans

Bafana Bafana fans were disappointed when they arrived at the match between SA and Gambia to hear it was postponed for four hours.

BAFANA BAFANA fans eager to see their team take on Gambia in the African Cup of Nations (2017) qualifier had to wait four hours after the scheduled match at 3pm before kick off to 7pm on Saturday.

Fans were disappointed and angered as hundreds had already made their way to Moses Mabhida Stadium and were told the match had been postponed till 7pm.

Tebogo Motseki, among the annoyed fans outside the stadium told Berea Mail, “This is not fair, that they are telling us its postponed at the eleventh hour. They should have made the announcement on national radios at six in the morning so we could have avoided all this inconvenience.”

The only answers fans received were from security guards at the stadium. The delay in kick off was later attributed to oofficials failing to arrive in the country on Friday night. The officials were expected at 4pm on Saturday and kick off continued at 7pm with many disappointed fans abandoning the match.

Ntokozo Mbokazi, had brought his three sons by train to watch the match from Umlazi had the difficult task of telling the seven year olds that they couldn't stay for the match. “I always bring my boys to the big matches in Durban but the last time the two of them came with me we watched a match that kicked off at 7pm and only got home at two o clock in the morning. They will very sad because we can't stay till 7pm today,” the dissaponnted dad said.
