New uniforms donated

Construction companies donated 50 sets of uniforms to pupils at Addington Primary.

CHILDREN at Addington Primary School received new uniforms at a handover assembly recently.

According to principal, Mr R Moodley, Point SAPS station commissioner, Brigadier Jabulani Zikhali initiated the project with Col John Romer from SAPS and the Point CPF chairman, Vuyani Msomi.

Msomi approached businessmen from construction companies, Liviero Building Construction and Enza Building Construction, who are involved in the renovation of the Addington Hospital, to ask if they would help sponsor uniforms for needy pupils at the school. The heads of the companies were happy to oblige.

At a special assembly at the school, 50 full sets of uniforms were donated to the grateful learners.

“We're extremely grateful to these companies for making this possible. We are faced with various challenges at our school, and it is heartening to note that companies out there are happy to assist with community involvement. We are a community school and we welcome the support from outside organisations that help our school function. We offer our sincere thanks to the CPF chair and Point SAPS for initiating this initiative and to these companies who have made an immense contribution to our learners,” said Moodley.

Brigadier Zikhali said it was the police's constitutional obligation to serve and uplift the community and this was a very good effort.

“What these companies have done is an honour, and they are adding value to the lives of the children in the community. We thank everyone involved,” he said.

Vuyani Msomi said it was a dream come true to be able to come together and do something for the youth in the community and he thanked the companies for wanting to be part of transformation in the area.

Rob Bremner from Liviero and Antonio Chessa from Enza spoke about their contribution and what a pleasure it was to be able to help the youth at Addington in this small way.
