New leadership for Interact club

Eden School recently inducted its new Interact club leadership.

EDEN College's new Interact president and committee was recently inducted at a special assembly at the school.

The outgoing president, Devaksha Dookhi, said the club had achieved a lot over the past year, including assisting at the Acting for Rhinos cocktail evening in promotion of the project. They were also involved in a series of weekly visits to St Theresa's children's home where they assisted the boys with their homework. Their major fundraising event for the year was the Eden's Got Talent contest.

“After all these successful events, we managed to raise a substantial amount of R23 000. We donated R1000 to the acting for rhino's project and were also able to donate R20 000 to the South African Guide Dogs Association for the Blind where our interact team purchased one trained dog and two puppies,” she said.

She congratulated the new Interact president, Saijal Naidoo and her Interact team for this year.

“We all have full faith that you will lead this team with dedication and produce extraordinary and remarkable work. Interact is in very capable hands and I look forward to seeing what you will achieve,” she said.

Incoming president, Saijal Naidoo said it was a privilege to be representing Eden College’s Interact.

“Our past president, Devaksha, has done wonderful work over the past year and I look forward to taking over from her. We are an organization dedicated to serving the community through various interactive projects,” she said.

She said the long-term project for the year was visiting St Theresa’s Children’s Home each week and other projects include holding Sandwich Days during which they would make sandwiches for the Salvation Army.

“We recently held a Red Lips Campaign which is a worldwide project held in support of the fight against women’s abuse. Furthermore, we will soon be launching a Knitathon in support of the 67 Blanket initiative held by the Salvation Army. I am ecstatic to have a large group of Interacter’s this year, all of whom are dedicated to the service of others. These individuals are hard-working and dynamic, and I look forward to working with my committee,” she said.
