Stats survey targets Musgrave

Stats SA will have three clearly identifiable field workers conducting a survey at households in the Berea and Durban area.

RESIDENTS living on the Berea will have field workers visiting the various suburbs in the near future, as part of Statistics South Africa's (Stats SA) survey programme.

A Living Condition Survey (LCS) is currently being conducted in sampled households across the country by a team of field workers. Stats SA is a government department and is mandated (in terms of the Statistics Act No. 6 of 1999) to collect information and produce official statistics. The LCS is conducted every five years and provides information on consumer spending patterns, consumption and poverty levels.

Households have been selected across all nine provinces within South Africa to participate in this year-long survey, which commenced in October 2014 and will conclude in October 2015.

Sibusiso Sibiya, Pooja Dhir and Mbongeni Shandu are responsible for collecting data in the Musgrave and Durban CBD area. Along with members of the publicity team, they will be visiting households which have been scientifically selected to participate. They will be wearing Stats SA bibs, a Stats SA cap, they will have identification and will be driving a Stats SA branded vehicle.

All information provided by households will remain confidential as per the Statistics Act. Members of the public can contact the Provincial Publicity Coordinator, Gabriel Dlamini 031 360 0600/ 079 513 7219 or the acting eThekwini District Manager, Armstrong Luhlongwane, 031304 0290 / 082 8882123 if there are any questions or concerns.
