Nurses graduate from Natal Settlers

Nurses from Natal Settlers were congratulated at a prize-giving ceremony.

NURSING students at Natal Settlers Home Nursing School graduated at a ceremony at Natal Settlers recently.

Guest speaker at the graduation was Zamasomi Luvuno and certificates were awarded to the students by Lizette van Vuuren.

Top students at the graduation were awarded with trophies. These included Nokubonga Hlengwa and Thandazile Fakude who got the highest practical marks, Siboniso Jaca and Laura Nenga who were awarded for their leadership skills, Pinky Zindela who was recognised for being dedicated and for never missing a day during her studies, and top student, an all-rounder with the highest in theory and practical, Thembisile Malunga.

Eleven honours students were also recognised.

Laura Nenga spoke on behalf of her class and said she thanked the principal Mrs Ndaba for organising the graduation for the students.

“We can be happy, and can sing and dance because of Mrs Ndaba and the Natal Settlers management. We will never forget our teachers for the big job they have in teaching us, and for imparting their knowledge, discipline and love for patients. There's no college like Natal Settlers, which is respected. We are now in our first step of nursing because of this school. We thank our family, friends and children for their support,” she said.

The students finished off with a candle lighting ceremony and recited the Nurses Pledge of Service, and enjoyed a time of fellowship and singing with their families.
