BCSF spreads Easter cheer

Members of the Bulwer Community Safety Forum and Blue Security visited children at King Edward Hospital on Saturday.

THE Bulwer Community Safety Forum spread a little Easter joy and cheer to the sick children at King Edward Hospital on Saturday.

Members of the forum handed out Easter eggs and beautiful knitted soft toys which the children were able to cuddle in their sick beds.

This year the children were also treated to a visit from the Easter bunny. Kayla Berkenshaw wore a bunny suit in the sweltering heat, to put smiles on the children’s faces.

“We were so overjoyed and amazed by the children last year, but this year we were even more humbled to see no matter how sick these little ones are, they still managed to give us and the Easter bunny a big welcoming smile and hello. It was such a well spent couple of hours. Even though we saw some very sad sights and shed some tears, we also had some laughs with the little ones and their mothers as well as the staff at King Edward Hospital,” said chairperson, Heather Rorick.

Heather extended her thanks to the Knit and Natter ladies from Musgrave Library for the knitted toys, Mookie Noodles and Keys Restaurant for donating Easter eggs, Jackie Berman for the soaps and face cloths, members of the community who contributed boxes of Easter eggs, Umbilo SAPS, Blue Security and King Edward Hospital security and staff, the dedicated members of the Bulwer Community Safety Forum Committee and patrol team and Golden Hours for the use of the Bunny suit.

“Last but not least, we thank the stars of the morning, all the sick children in King Edward Hospital and their moms. Thank you all once again for such an amazing morning. We look forward to visiting next Easter with our Easter bunny,” said Heather.
