Call for nominations launched for 2015 Regional Businesswomen’s Achiever Awards.

KWAZULU-Natal’s leading businesswomen’s network has summoned a call for nominations to salute the best women business talent in the province in the 2015 Regional Businesswomen’s Achiever Awards (RBAA).

The region’s Businesswoman’s Association is geared up to accept public nominations to honour entrepreneurial, professional and businesswomen leaders who have excelled in their areas of expertise.

Spearheaded by newly-appointed regional chairperson, Mpume Langa, the RBAA champions the success of businesswomen and entrepreneurs in KwaZulu-Natal.

“There has been a dramatic shift in the confidence amongst business leaders over the past years – the time is right to encourage and inspire future generations of female business leaders,” said Langa, who holds the position as regional head of ABSA Private Banking.

As a proud initiative of the Businesswomen’s Association of South Africa, the RBAA has actively identified and celebrated extraordinary women in leadership for 14 years.

Nominations are open to all business sectors, professions, community organisations and individuals who meet and exceed the RBAA criteria, which include entrepreneur, emerging entrepreneur, social entrepreneur, professionals as well as the corporate and government sectors.

“This is more than just a competition, it’s about celebrating each women’s successes and creating a chain of women empowerment,” said Langa.

The Businesswomen’s Association of South Africa (BWASA), with 11 branches throughout South Africa, is the largest and most prominent association of business and professional women in the country. The organisation plays an active role in highlighting the current status of women in leadership and advocating women's business issues in an effort to transform the economy.

This year’s awards ceremony is scheduled for Wednesday, 24 June at the Durban ICC.

Nominations close on 10 April. All nominations for each category are to be submitted by third parties with formal acceptance of the nomination by the nominee. It is not essential that the nominee be a registered member of the BWA to be considered.
