Miles4Marrow campaign a success

Swimmers took on the Midmar Mile to raise awareness and funds for The Sunflower Fund.

SIXTEEN brave swimmers from across Durban championed the cause of The Sunflower Fund in the 2015 Miles4Marrow Midmar Mile fundraising and awareness campaign.

Participating swimmers obtained sponsorships per mile covered. All funds raised would be used to include new bone marrow stem cell donors on the South African Bone Marrow Registry, in turn giving hope to patients diagnosed with life-threatening blood disorders such as leukaemia.

Weeks of ardent preparation in both physical and mental training paid dividends as elated swimmers victoriously crossed the finish line, with fervent supporters and well-wishers looking on. Such physical conquests underpin the ethos of the Miles4Marrow campaign, which upholds that, 'Most things in life cannot be done alone'.

Just as the swimmers need the support of their family, coaches, other swimmers and officials to achieve their goals, The Sunflower Fund needs the help of the public, donors and other key stakeholders to carry out their good work.

The Sunflower Fund wishes to thank all Miles4Marrow swimmers and their sponsors for their worthy contributions.
