Green light for community building market initiative

Musgrave Centre is gearing up for the first of 12 Roof top Night Markets this Friday evening.

MUSGRAVE Centre will be host to 12 Roof Top Night Markets in 2015 with the first this Friday, 6 February.

The vision for the event is to create a platform where local entrepreneurs can sell their unique creations, in a safe, weather guarded and family friendly environment. The Night Market will take place on the first Friday of every month (excluding Good Friday, in April, when the event will take place on 10 April) in the level five parking lot from 5pm to 9.30pm.

Shops within the centre that usually close at 6pm on Fridays will remain open until 7pm on the market evenings.

“I see huge potential in this market in terms of an increased number of stalls and visitors. We remain focused on the quality of the offering and ensuring that it is always locally produced,” said Darryl Hoffman market consultant and organiser.

One of the stall holders NGO, AbaKrestu Foundation will have their “tree in a can” concept on sale. The Foundation directs raised funds and services from its projects to a number of accredited NGO’s working in the area of the disadvantaged, orphaned and abandoned children throughout South Africa. Their aim is to do this by providing specific need requirements, and in time higher and post graduate bursaries.
