Kenneth Gardens needs attention, says resident

A resident of Kenneth Gardens is asking the Housing Department to clean up the grounds at the housing estate.

A KENNETH Gardens resident has complained that the municipality is not completing work when maintaining the grounds of the housing estate in Umbilo.

Jim van Zyl said the municipality cuts the grass and leave piles lying on the ground, and branches from a tree cut more than a year ago are still lying where they were left.

“I can't understand why the municipality can't cut and remove. The branches have been left for more than a year to rot, and from my home I have to look at the dump. The grass is not raked up and weeds grow up and over this. I have lived here for 24 years and it has never been like this,” he said.

Van Zyl said he questioned what was happening in the Housing Department.

“Since I moved in I have been asking the council to have my flat painted, but nothing was done. I have done it myself since. We are paying to stay here, and expect the municipality to look after the grounds,” he said.

Ward councillor, Nicole Graham, said she was waiting on a response from the Housing Department, and could not comment until such time.
