Summer festival trail run

Enter now for the 5th Umhlanga Jockey Summer Festival Trail run and walk.

UMHLANGA Tourism and Riverside Trail will host the 5th Umhlanga Jockey Summer Festival Trail run and walk on 14 December.

The event will offer three distances, a 5km (run/walk), 12km (run/walk) and 18km run only and will start from the Millennium Stage on the Umhlanga Promenade at 6am.

Runners and walkers should get ready to tackle these three options. The 5km route will incorporate the prestine Hawaan Dune Forest and end with a short beach section. The 12km race will follow a fast course through bush, sugar cane, gravel road, jeep track, a lagoon and river crossing plus a 2km beach run at the finish. Not to be outdone the 18km entrants will also experience a new section which will incorporate a steep climb to a beacon above Mdloti where the views are spectacular.

There will be two refreshment tables for the 18km runners and one for the 12km.

All finishers will be handed a Jockey T-shirts and a cold Just Juice on the finish line. There will be a prize giving at 9am which will include a lucky draw.

Late entries will be taken at the start from 5am on race day. Peter Rose, Chairman of Umhlanga Tourism will be officially welcoming all entrants when he fires the start gun.
