Trio banned from Kings Park

The three discharged of the Kings Park rugby fan murder will not be allowed into the stadium despite charges dropped against them.

WHILE the three men acquitted for the murder of Royal Marine Brett Williams may have walked free last week, they will not be able to enjoy any Sharks matches at Kings Park stadium.

Kyle Shepard, Andries van der Merwe and Dustin van Wyk, were discharged last Friday after Durban regional court magistrate Trevor Lewitt received applications from their attorneys to have charges dismissed against them and the state failed to present a case against them. Blayne Shepard, brother of Kyle Shepard will stand trial and have to defend himself against the murder charge against him.

Novashni Chetty, Public Relations, said “The Sharks reserve the right of admission to our stadium.” She added that there was no clear indication that any one of the three men made any attempt to stop the fight which resulted in Brett Williams murder. “For that reason, they will not be welcome into our family environment at Growthpoint Kings Park,” Chetty added.

The murder trial resumes on Monday 8 December.
