Lambie coaches school kids

Pupils from Eqinisweni School in Inanda were treated to a coaching session with Pat Lambie in Durban last week.

SHARKS player, Pat Lambie, spent time coaching pupils from Eqinisweni Primary School last week.

In celebration of the partnership between Jockey and Tag Rugby SA, a coaching clinic was held at College Rovers Rugby Club where Pat Lambie, who played club rugby at College Rovers and is a Tag ambassador, interacted and assisted with coaching the 50 learners from Eqinisweni.

Natalie Bennie, Jockey marketing associate, said: “The children had great fun finding their hidden talents and this inspired the teachers to further involve the school in rugby. Since then, they have managed to receive scholarships for some of the children through rugby, and the results are already there to be seen with their U9 team winning the Tag Rugby Tournament in Port Elizabeth last year.”

Eqinisweni also received a sustained rugby training sponsorship for the school. Not only will the pupils receive quarterly coaching from dedicated Tag Rugby coaches, the school sports staff will also be coached to continue with the training in between coaching sessions. Sports kit, equipment and training manuals will also be donated as part of the sponsorship.
