Durban man crushed by elevator

A man was killed this morning in an elavator accident at a Durban business premises.

A man in his thirties was tragically killed on Monday morning in an elevator accident in the Durban CBD.

According to ER24’s Russel Meiring, paramedics, along with other services, arrived on scene at a business premises on Dr Goonam (Prince Edward Street) where they found a large group of bystanders gathered around a goods elevator.

“On assessment, paramedics found that a man had been crushed to death when he got caught in the elevator doors and lift.

Rescue services had to break open the elevator doors to free the trapped man’s body,” said Meiring.

Witnesses at the business premises told ER24 they had gone to investigate after hearing the man’s screams.

The cause of the incident is unknown but police are investigating.
