Join Nufield squash league

WHETHER you are an advanced squash player or just a beginner, Nufield Commercial League at UKZN needs you.

The squash league was started in the 80s in La Lucia, where a group of businessmen wanted to enjoy social squash, and the league moved to UKZN in 1994.

According to member, Steve Mandy, the sport is great to keep fit, burn fat in a short space of time as well as for the social aspect.

“The game improves your skills and fitness, and being part of the league is great for networking. There are members who are experts in a lot of different fields, and some members have gotten jobs through socialising. A lot of men have also met their wives on the court!” he said.

The league plays on a Monday and Thursday night from 4.30pm to 7pm, and seeds are graded into A, B and C, with strength playing strength.

“Whether you are learning to play or are older and slower, there is a team for you. We have beginner to advanced players. We are looking for youngsters such as school leavers who want to take up squash,” he said.
