Escape to White Mountain

Enjoy time out in the country while listening to some top acts at this year's White Mountain Festival.

NOW in its ninth year, the annual White Mountain Festival takes place from 24 to 28 September and is the perfect opportunity to escape the city and unwind in a stunning setting while enjoying some of the best acoustic acts in the country.

The line-up includes Kahn Morbee (frontman for The Parlotones) performing brand new songs off his debut solo album, as well as Michael Lowman and two of South Africa’s top female singer-songwriters, Laurie Levine and Josie Field, with their award-winning Side by Side tandem show.

Also on the bill are American singer-songwriter Brett Newski and Australian duo Guyy and The Fox, a not-to-be-missed collaboration that brings together the Celtic influences and fierce playing style of violinist Amelia Gibson and the skill and showmanship of Guyy, a Canberra-based singer-songwriter-guitarist who holds the titles of Australian National Busking Champion and ACT Best Blues and Roots Artist for 2013.

Aside from the music, festival-goers can also look forward to colourful arts and crafts, a variety of different food outlets and a beer market featuring several local breweries.

Known for its intimate, relaxed atmosphere, this gem of a festival is held at White Mountain Lodge near Giant’s Castle, only 185km from Durban, 400km from Johannesburg and just 25km off the N3 on tarred roads. With its spacious grounds, fishable dam, charming old pub, restaurant, playground and swimming pool, the lodge’s many amenities add another dimension to the usual festival experience.

Tickets are available at Computicket and include camping in a beautiful site overlooking the dam. For more information and all the latest news, visit www.c-weed.com/wmf or contact 031 563 0824.
