Glenwood sailors praised
Glenwood High School sailors excelled in events during the school holidays.
GLENWOOD High School boys took part in the MSC Week 2104 Regatta held off Durban in July.
Sailing Container World Challenge in the L26 class division, skipper Eli Brophy-Tintinger with crew Jethro Brophy-Tintinger, Brendan Humphreys, Josh Cannan and Gabriel Davies, were placed 9th after some very close racing in the light winds that prevailed for the entire regatta. They boys were praised for the way they conducted themselves both on and off the water during the regatta.
On the last weekend of vacation, the boys were requested to sail in the Sail Africa Durban Boat Show Regatta. The aim of the regatta was to give novice sailors an opportunity to experience some basic racing. The Glenwood boys entertained the girls from Wykeham Collegiate from Pietermaritzburg, giving them an opportunity to man the ropes as well as helm the boat. After two races on Saturday and three on Sunday, they were placed 2nd overall.
