Partnership will fight crime

A local security company and community watch have joined forces to fight crime in Helen Joseph Road.

A PARTNERSHIP has been created to fight crime in Helen Joseph (Davenport) Road.

The Bulwer Community Safety Forum (BCSF) has approved Mzansi Security as the preferred service provider and the two will work together on an initial project to take back the road and transform it to what it used to be before crime set in.

Heather Rorick from the BCSF said the cime in the area had prompted people to approach forum to come up with solutions.

“We decided to approach Mzansi as they operate within our community. Together we sat down and came up with a project to secure the suburb. We are very excited about the project and the partnership and urge all businesses and homeowners in the road to support us in securing the suburb,” she said.

The first business to get on board in the road was Deli with owners Marcel Whatley and Anton de Beer very supportive of the initiative.

“We moved down from Johannesburg and are here to work with the power partners, Mzansi and the Bulwer Community Safety Forum to make the streets safe to walk at night, to be able to sleep well at night and run a businesses without the anxiety and stress of crime,” he said.

A meeting will be held on Monday 9 June at 10.30am and business owners in Helen Joseph Road are encouraged to attend.

“We invite people from the road to join us in standing together to eradicate the problem of crime in the road and hear about our solution in fighting to secure the suburb,” said Michelle Caswell from Mzansi Security.
