Neighbourhood crime round-up

Take note of crime awareness tips and community meetings.

Witness sought

BRIGHTON Beach Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual offences Unit (FCS) is looking for Khetha Mlotshwa (30), who is from Dunbar Road, Cato Manor. Police believe Mlotshwa may be able to assist them in their investigation of a rape case.

Last year November 2013, a 15-year-old girl was allegedly raped at her home. A case of rape was then registered at Cato Manor SAPS for further investigation.

Anyone who knows Mlotshwa’s whereabouts is asked to contact the investigating officer, detective W/O Andie Solomon from Brighton Beach FCS unit on 031 203 73334 5934 or 084 912 8176.

Snatcher nabbed

A MAN was caught on Monday morning outside the Corner Cafe after he had snatched a woman’s cell phone from her.

He was caught by a security officer. SAPS arrived and the man was arrested.

Heather Rorick from Bulwer Community Safety Forum and the forum’s other patrollers also attended.

“Please do not walk or stand in the street talking on your cellphone as unfortunately you will become an open target for criminals lurking near by unnoticed by you,” said Rorick.

Battery thieves

IN the early hours of Saturday the battery from electric gates at a property in Alan Paton Road was stolen from the box which is located near the front wall inside the property.

For those that may have their gate battery near a wall or gate that’s easily accessible, you should consider putting a lock on to avoid having to replace it.

Suspicious marker

A RESIDENT living close to Davenport Centre noticed light coloured, easily removable masking tape on her main gate.

Criminals mark properties so look at the front of your properties and see that no tape has been placed there. It could be nothing but to be on the safe side, remove it.
