Woman’s bag recovered

A woman was very pleased to have her bag returned to her after a mugging on Rossburgh Bridge.

A WOMAN who was mugged on the Rossburgh Bridge is pleased to have had her bag returned.

According to Thulisile Bhengu, she was walking across the bridge when she was approached by a man who tried to steal her bag. She fought with him to keep it, however he managed to get it out of her grip and run off with it.

Sgt Rodie from Umbilo SAPS and his team were holding observation at the bridge and heard the woman screaming. She told them what had happened and gave them a description of what the man was wearing and in which direction he had run. She was in such a state, that she boarded a taxi and went to town.

The officers gave chase and caught the man. He had a pair of scissors in his possession, along with Thulisile’s bag, which had been torn in the struggle.

He was arrested and taken back to the station.

Thulisile had gone to Durban, but was told by other commuters that she should go to Umbilo SAPS to report the crime. When she arrived, she was pleased to find the man had been arrested and her bag was returned to her.
