Entabeni Hospital pumps up fight again heart failure, stroke

Life Entabeni Hospital, through its Mended Hearts meetings, will host their monthly offering this Friday. Mended Hearts provides emotional and educational support to those affected by cardiovascular diseases.

THE Heart and Stroke Foundation South Africa (HSFSA) will be hosting its monthly Mended Hearts and Stroke group meeting and urges all affected parties to attend. Mended Hearts will be held at Life Entabeni Hospital on September 6 from 10:00 to 12:00 in the Main Hospital Conference Room.

The meeting aims to address heart failure and its various risk factors, like stroke. The HSFSA is a non-governmental, non-profit organisation and is well-known locally, regionally and internationally for making a significant impact on heart disease awareness, and through their campaign strategies, they also aim to reduce the burden of cardiovascular disease.

At the helm of the meeting is Sister Juandre Watson, health promotion and health risk assessment team lead. September is the foundation’s upcoming Heart Awareness Month. She is dedicating the entire month of September to heart awareness. During the month, the foundation aims to make new strides by addressing some key health problems that the country and world are facing, including heart failure and contributing factors.

“We urge all South Africans to know their numbers, be informed about matters relating to their health and to adopt healthy behaviours. The foundation welcomes any person who has had a cardiovascular event, their friends and family members, those who may perceive themselves to be at risk or anyone who would like to know more about matters pertaining to their health,’ she said.
