THE weekend is on the way, and there are plenty of fun events in and around Durban. If you are looking for something to do, look no further – we’ve got you covered. An array of markets and a dance performance feature on this weekend’s highlight reel. Here is a list of events that might just make your day!

Friday, March 31

Market 031 takes place on Friday, March 31, at Northwood Crusaders Sports Club from 17:00 to 21:00. There will be more than 80 stalls with an array of items on sale. Visitors to the market can expect to find everything from delicious food and uniquely handmade products to organic and locally sourced artisanal produce. There will also be live music to add to the atmosphere. There is no entrance fee to enter the market, and pets on leashes are welcome. Friday, March 31 and Saturday, April 1

Flatfoot Dance Company presents a new work called Love Song at the KZNSA Art Gallery at 18:30. The community can catch the performance on Friday and/or Saturday. Tickets are R100. Saturday, April 1

Soirée Eid Extravaganza is a showcase of the absolute best in modest wear, Islamic attire, Eid gifting, homeware and so much more. The event takes place at The White Box in Durban on Saturday from 10:00 until midnight. There is a R10 entrance fee of which proceeds will be donated to charity. The venue is located at 369 Peter Mokaba Road (Ridge Road).

Sandy Day of La Lucia Antique and Collectables Fair.

Sunday, April 2

The next La Lucia Antique and Collectables Fair takes place on Sunday, April 2, at La Lucia Mall. Traders can be found on the lower ground floor from 09:00 to 15:00 on the day. Entry is free. A number of traders will display a vast array of vintage treasures from crystal, silver, vintage jewellery and antique woodworking tools, to name a few. Feel the spirit of Easter at the Durban Symphonic Choir’s performance of Stainer’s Crucifixion on Sunday from 15:00 to 17:00 at St Joseph’s Cathedral, 98 Abbot Francis Road, Mariannhill. Scored for tenor and bass soloists, organ and mixed choir, the piece combines recitatives, solos and masterful choruses. The show is directed by Ros Conrad, conducted by Naum Rousine, accompanied by organist Christopher Cockburn, with tenor soloist Themba Maseko and bass soloist Andile Dlamini. Tickets are available for R120 (under 12s free) via Quicket or cash at the door.
