Driver loses control, smashes into parked vehicles

Paramedics feared the worst as they arrived to find several cars smashed and scattered over the road.

PARAMEDICS arrived to find total wreckage on the corner of Umbilo Road and Albert Dhlomo (Willowvale) Road just after 02:30 on Monday, February 20.

Garrith Jamieson of Advanced Life Support (ALS) Paramedics said they arrived on the scene together with Mzansi Tactical Members.

“Paramedics feared the worst when they saw five extensively damaged vehicles littered across the road and pavement,” he said.

“A quick Triage was done, and it was ascertained that a single vehicle had somehow lost control and ploughed into stationary vehicles. Paramedics stabilised a male in his early twenties for moderate injuries before transporting him to a nearby hospital for the further care that he required,” continued Jamieson.

There were no further injuries reported.

“At this stage, the events leading up to the collision are unknown, however, SAPS were on the scene and will be investigating further,” concluded Jamieson.
