eThekwini gives a hero’s welcome to Grammy Award winner Zakes Bantwini

Zakes Bantwini received a warm welcome at King Shaka International Airport this afternoon following his win at the 2023 Grammy Awards.

A CROWD of people, ready to celebrate and congratulate recent Grammy Award winner Zakes Bantwini, as he arrived in Durban at King Shaka International Airport, waited eagerly for the South African musician outside of baggage claim this afternoon.

During the 65th Grammy Awards held in Los Angeles, California, on February 5, Zakes Bantwini, together with Nomcebo Zikode and Wouter Kellerman, scooped a Grammy Award for the Best Global Music Performance in the Global Music category for their collaboration, Bayethe.

Leading the proud celebration of the ‘iMali’ hitmaker was eThekwini Municipality mayor Councillor Mxolisi Kaunda, together with the Durban Creative Industry.
