Man critically shot in alleged hijacking in Umbilo

One person has been critically injured in a shooting incident that occurred just after 12:00 this afternoon, on Prospect Road in Umbilo, after an alleged hijacking incident.

ALS PARAMEDICS are currently on the scene of a shooting incident alleged to have been a hijacking in Prospect Road Umbilo.

One person has been critically injured in the shooting incident which occurred just after 12:00 this afternoon.

According to ALS Paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson, ALS Paramedics Medical Services, together with EMRS, arrived on the scene to find SAPS in attendance.

“A male believed to be in his forties had sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body. Advanced Life Support Paramedics worked to stabilise the man on the scene before he was rushed through to a nearby Durban hospital for the further treatment that he required,” said Jamieson.

Jamieson says that, at this stage, the events leading up to the incident are unknown, however, SAPS were on the scene and will be investigating further.
