Drug trafficker and dealer gets nabbed by police
The SAPS apprehended a suspect this week who was attempting to traffic drugs from Gauteng to Durban. The police also found that the suspect has previous drug charges from this year.
A 29-year-old man who was attempting to transport drugs from Gauteng to KwaZulu-Natal, Durban, was stopped by police on Wednesday, August 24, who searched his vehicle and found a large quantity of heroin. The suspect appeared in court yesterday to face the consequences of his crimes.
According to South African Police Services (SAPS) Constable, Thenjiswa Ngcobo, an operation was conducted by the Provincial Drug and Firearm Unit after they received information about a man that was transporting drugs in his vehicle from Gauteng to Durban.

“The team worked tirelessly in gathering all the information as well as the travelling routes. On Wednesday afternoon at 17:15, while holding observation, the suspect’s vehicle was spotted travelling on Umgeni Road near Durban Station, and it was intercepted,” said Ngcobo.
Cst Ngcobo says that upon searching the vehicle, the suspect was found in possession of approximately 2.2kg of pure heroin powder.

“Further investigation was conducted, and it was established that the suspect is out on bail for another case for being arrested in Pongola in June 2022 after he was found with a large quantity of drugs. The 29-year-old suspect was placed under arrest for possession and dealing drugs. The recovered drugs are valued at R350 000,” said the SAPS Constable.
Cst Ngcobo says the suspect appeared before the Durban Magistrate’s Court on the morning of Thursday, August 25, and the case is ongoing.
