Man dies after a Musgrave construction site accident

The worker died after a bank of sand collapsed onto him at a site.

A MAN in his forties has been killed in a construction site incident on Somme Road in Musgrave just after 16:00 on Wednesday.

“ALS Paramedics Medical Services together with the eThekwini Fire Department arrived on the scene to find construction workers frantically digging to try and rescue the man.” said ALS paramedic, Garreth Jamieson.

The eThekwini Fire Department together with ALS Paramedics took over from the workers and managed to free most of his body.

Jamieson said that ALS paramedics assessed the man and unfortunately found that he had sustained fatal injuries and he was declared deceased on the scene.

“At this stage the events leading up to the incident are unknown however SAPS together with the eThekwini Fire Department were on the scene and will be investigating further.” said the veteran paramedic.
