Glenwood resident is first shopper in, wins R5 000 at Makro Springfield

The elated Glenwood shopper shed tears of joy as she was handed the voucher.

A GLENWOOD resident, Eunice Mokoena, was the first to step foot into the refurbished Makro Springfield at its re-opening on Monday, December 13.

The lucky shopper could not hold back her tears as she won a R5 000 shopping voucher.

“It was a big surprise and I am very happy,” said the stunned shopper. Another shopper, Antony Mnguni, was close behind and was eager to enter the refurbished store.

“We missed shopping here. We are glad now they are open. There are no other places where we can get the  items we need and shop in bulk,” he said.

The store was closed for repairs after it was severely damaged during the KZN unrest in July.

The general manager for the store, Sue-Anne Jones was joined by Massmart CEO, Mitch Slape for the ribbon cutting ceremony.    

“We have received an outpouring of support and assistance. This re-opening means as much to the community as it does to us,” said Jones, ahead of the ceremony.
