At ‘yeast’ Marmite is back on shelves for World Marmite Day

Marmite South Africa took to their Facebook page to announce that the product is back on local shelves.

MARMITE, a popular household brand, spread some joy with a big announcement on World Marmite Day on Tuesday, September 28. Marmite South Africa took to their Facebook page to announce that the product is back on local shelves.

This announcement was made after the love-it-or-hate-it spread was in short supply during the Covid-19 lockdown when the supply of brewer’s yeast dwindled.

“Today we celebrate the mavericks, those who spread against the grain and what really matters: Marmite! The good news is that the 250g Marmite is slowly filtering back into the trade and should start appearing on shelves during October,” read the post.

In a post shared on the product’s page on June 15, Marmite South Africa said, “Due to the lockdown as a result of Covid-19, there is a current shortage of brewer’s yeast – one of the main ingredients of Marmite.”
