SOS banner goes up on Tollgate Bridge

The aim of the banner is to promote unity.

AMIDST recent unrest, a Save Our Souls (SOS) banner has been placed on Tollgate Bridge.

Musgrave resident, Julian Robert, who created the banner, said it was hung up on Thursday, July 15 in the morning. The aim of the banner is to promote unity, he said.

“It was just something we thought we needed to do – get a message out there to South Africa and the rest of the world. It’s a call for help to save our country. In times of distress an SOS signal is generally sent out as a cry for help, so we thought we could also send out an SOS at this time,” he said.

Robert said he hopes to raise funds to produce more banners to be placed in and around Durban.

“It’s been great, we have had a lot of positive responses from companies offering to put up more banners on their building. We are busy speaking to other sponsors to see if we can raise funds for materials to fly the flag on other structures in Durban and surrounding areas,” he said.
