Sleepless night for anxious matrics

Months of planing and weeks of waiting for the matric exam results is finally over after the release on Tuesday. Durban pupils tell Berea Mail about the stressful wait.

MATRICS were finally put out of their misery on Tuesday, 7 January after the release of the matric results.

Dharshini Moodley: “The late release didn’t affect me because I wasn’t really stressed. I knew I had passed, just wondered about the disctinctions and I’m happy now.”

Neyoka Ollermann: “I wasn’t stressed until early this morning. We were sitting at a garage since midnight waiting for the paper. I got my Bachelor’s Pass so I’m very happy and can’t wait to celebrate with my family.”

Slindile Dlamini: “I’m so excited..When I saw the paper I couldn’t breathe, I waited months and was so anxious. I felt it was way too long a wait and Saturday was my birthday and I couldn’t relax. Now I can and I’ve got 3 As.”

Philisha Kanayee: “I was so scared and nervous. That long wait was nerve-racking! I couldn’t really enjoy the holiday with the exam results hanging over my head. I was so relieved once I saw my results.”

Megan Naidoo: “Last night was the most nerve-racking night, the wait was a killer! I suddenly developed chest pains and nausea but it was all worth it in the end. I have 3 As, 3 Bs and a C so I’m on my way to studying Civil Engineering at Tuks.”

Ahmed Mansoor: “We followed a newspaper van around at 11.30pm until it dropped off a bundle at a garage. I’m satisfied with my results, after all the stress, its finally paid off! Now I’ll have to see what the year has in store, I will study Bcom and do my Honours in the UK.”

Richard Thomas: “I tried in vain getting a paper this morning at around 6am and 7am but still haven’t seen my symbols. I’m nervous because I didn’t see any As so I’m hoping for high Bs to send for remarking. I want to join the Royal Army and study Medicine.”

Twins Girisha and Hemisha Nair hope to get into the same course so they can continue being study buddies. “Yesterday was nerve-racking,” said Girisha. “But we made it with Bachelor’s Passes,” added Hemisha.

Sphe Khati: “I was very nervous, but now I’m relieved because I’ve passed with a Bachelor’s and on my way towards my goal of a Town Planning Degree.”
