CROW calls for help amid Covid-19’s third wave

At the end of June, the NPO only had two clinic nurses on site to look after 317 animals.

WITH many of its staff in self-isolation due to Covid-19, the Centre for Rehabilitation of Wildlife (CROW) has called on the community to help by donating foliage for the antelope on site.

On June 30, the non-profit organisation noted that a number of its staff tested positive for Covid-19 and all staff who were in contact with them also went into self-isolation.

“We only have two clinic nurses on duty looking after the 317 animals currently on the property,” said CROW’s spokesman, Alexandra Kögl.

While it is still accepting drop-offs and its depots are accepting animals, the organisation noted that it was having difficulty responding to the numerous, daily rescue calls.

“The SPCAs have agreed to assist us with rescues as and when they can. If you find an animal in need that you can safely place in a box and bring through to our clinic or depots, please do so. Please do not try to pick up an animal if you are not sure if it is safe,” said Kögl.

To assist with the foliage, the NPO said it needed mulberry, hibiscus or other edible tree branches.

These could be dropped off at the main gate.
