SAPS seize drugs worth more than R30k in Durban operation

The street value of the recovered drugs is R37 500 said SAPS spokesperson, Colonel Thembeka Mbele.

SAPS arrested a 36-year-old suspect with 52 loops of cocaine powder and 23 loops of crystal meth in their possession on Thursday, 24 June.

“Police officers from the Provincial Organized Crime and Narcotics Unit had been conducting observations at a property on Margaret Mncadi Road following reports of illegal activities in one of the flats. Following an initial investigation, a search warrant was obtained and police proceeded to the identified flat to conduct a search,” Mbele added.

The arrest formed part of an ongoing police operation to eradicate illegal drugs in the province.

“Drug operations are in full swing in the KwaZulu-Natal province. We want to assure the community that we are continuing to close the net on drug dealers and we remain committed to eradicating drug dealers from the province,” said Mbele.

he suspect will appear in the Durban Magistrates Court this morning.
