Suspect at large after stabbing Glenwood man

The attack is believed to linked to a love triangle, as the girlfriend of the suspect worked with the victim for the same company in Durban.

POLICE are still searching for the suspect who stabbed a Glenwood man multiple times, in Warwick Avenue, in February this year.

Spokesperson for the Durban Central SAPS, Captain Muzi Maphumulo said the suspect is known as Zakheleni Mandla Ngema.

“He once resided at Dalton Hostel, and moved to Eshowe, Nongoma. The suspect was working in Durban before the incident. The whereabouts of the suspect is unknown,” said Maphumulo.

According to Maphumulo, the attack is suspected to be related to a love triangle, as the girlfriend of the suspect worked with the victim for the same company in Durban.

“It is alleged that on the evening of 11 February, the victim Bongani Khumalo (49) of Glenwood, was at Warwick Avenue, near the bus rank in Durban, with two of his co-employees doing a hand over for the job. The victim was attacked by a person who came from behind and stabbed him with a sharp instrument several times all over the body,” said Maphumulo.

A case of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm is being investigated by Durban Central SAPS.

The warrant of arrest was issued by the Durban Central Magistrate’s Court on 13 April 2021. Anyone with information that will assist police to arrest the suspect can contact the investigating officer SGT PZ Cele on 082 573 6310, 031 325 4079 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
