Durban duo impress with rhythm, rhymes and rap

Duo, Tyler “King Tritxn” Lubbee and Travis “Kratos” Lubbe completed their performance with some fierce dance moves.

DURBAN rap artists took to the concrete stage at the Durban Skate park on the weekend with a jaw dropping performance. Duo, Tyler “King Tritxn” Lubbee and Travis “Kratos” Lubbe completed their performance with some fierce dance moves that showed just how in sync the performers are. But, that’s not to say they don’t hold their ground as solo artists as well.

“I am currently nominated for two SADMA Awards that’s happening soon one for Album Of The Year and another one for Best Hip-hop,” said Tyler, who has released two albums, one featuring Kratos entitled, Give Me The Life as well as solo album, For The People.

“My solo album includes my hit song People’s Advocate and an EP(extended play) entitled, All Before Good Times that dropped on 16 Jan this year,” he said.

This adds to a stream of songs he has released since he began performing as a rapper in 2011.

“My very first show was at an event at high school. since then, I have released many tracks such a Hustle, People’s Advocate, and 031 Story,” he said.

Tyler is working hard to grow his audience, sharing his songs on a range of online platforms.

“You can find my songs on all social media platforms including Instagram, Facebook, Tik Tok, YouTube, Tidal, Napster, Amazon, Spotify and Sound Cloud or just Google me King Titxn and my music and info will pop up,” said the musician.

He defined his musical style as unique.

“I like to tell people the truth with my music. No matter what situation you in I will always have a song for you because my songs are based on good times and hard times,” said Tyler.

While Travis has been a part of the industry for five years, his performance at the Skate park on the weekend was his first. For a year prior, he has been dedicated to the role of marketing the Trilogy brand and learning the ins and outs of the industry.

“I started performing in a gang along with Tyler, we started as a gang called C Gang. We changed it to Trilogy. I was rehearsing with Tyler behind the scenes and focusing more on getting him out there. My first performance was actually at the skate park. I was scared because didn’t know what the outcome would be, but I went with it and I didn’t regret it,” he said.

Most of the music he has released has been collaborations with Tyler, although, Travis did release a single last year.

“My style of music is very straightforward, it’s basically telling you where I come from and how I live my life on a day-to-day basis. It’s very rough, rugged, and raw, however, in certain situations, it can be tame and mellow. I still have to master my talents. With music you learn something new every day in the studio from someone that has way more experience than you,” he said.

He encouraged other aspiring rappers to follow their dreams.

“Never give up. Never quit. Go out there and market yourself. Show people that you are there. A record is not going to find you sitting in a studio rapping. You have to go out there and find your fans and then the record label will find you. Endurance is key. Keep writing,” he said.
