Two suspects nabbed by Cato Manor detectives for murder

The suspects were arrested in Cato Crest on the same day of the incident.

TWO men appeared in the Durban Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, 18 March on charges of murder.

Col Thembeka Mbele, from the provincial SAPS communications office, said the arrest came after an investigation that was conducted by Cato Manor detectives. 

She said the suspects were arrested in Cato Crest on the day of the incident.

“It is alleged on 16 March at 4.30pm, the victim, Vusi Shandu, was on his way home from work when at the corner of Vusi Mzimela Road and Jan Smuts Highway he was shot and killed by three men. He sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was declared dead at the scene,” she said.

Acting provincial commissioner for KwaZulu-Natal, Major General Thulani Gonya, said he was glad that the murder suspects were immediately arrested so that they would face the consequences of their actions.
