Man arrested for being in possession of counterfeit money

According to Capt Pumzile Makaula from Umbilo SAPS, it is alleged that the suspect scammed people mainly at ATMs.

A MAN was arrested at Berea Centre by Umbilo SAPS for being in possession of counterfeit money.

According to Capt Pumzile Makaula from Umbilo SAPS, it is alleged that the suspect scammed people mainly at ATMs.

“The suspect carries R200 counterfeit notes and asks for change from people who have just withdrawn money,” she said.

Makaula said another complainant informed the police that they had been the victim of the same suspect in lsipingo.

“Police are investigating a case of possession of counterfeit money,” she said.
