Con artist caught red-handed at Durban Magistrate’s Court

It was also discovered that the man had attended a court proceeding for housebreaking in the same court the day before.

A MAN was arrested for business burglary and theft after he was found at the Durban Magistrate’s Court offices removing a computer under the pretext of being a technician.

Sgt Zanele Khomo from Durban Central SAPS said it is alleged that on 11 January at around 2pm, a Durban Magistrate’s Court official saw the unknown man removing a computer from one of the offices.

“When questioned the man said he was a technician. The staff member got suspicious and summoned the police. Durban Central police swiftly responded and discovered that the suspect is actually a con artist who steals from government offices under the pretext of being a technician,” she said.
