Motorist survives Umbilo hijacking

The victim was forced to make his way home on foot after the incident.

AN Umbilo resident was lucky to survive a hijacking incident in Umbilo in the early hours of Friday morning, 3 December. 

Blue Security community and media liaison officer, Andreas Mathios said a Blue Security armed-response officer arrived at the scene to be informed by the property owner that her tenant had been accosted by an unknown number of suspects as he entered the driveway.

“The suspects pulled up in a Datsun vehicle and held up the victim. He was abducted by the suspects, along with his vehicle, a silver VW Polo,” Mathios said.

He said the victim was dropped off on the freeway by the suspects who fled in the hijacked vehicle.

“The victim was forced to make his way home on foot after the incident,” he said.

Umbilo SAPS attended the scene and investigations are continuing.
