Wanted suspect sought by Brighton Beach police for rape, robbery

The suspect has been on the run since the rape and robbery took place in 2018.

DETECTIVES at the Brighton Beach Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit is making an appeal to the community to assist with information on the whereabouts of a wanted suspect.

Col Thembeka Mbele from provincial SAPS said Mhlonishwa Mkhize, (35), is wanted for a case of rape and common robbery that was committed on 28 July 2018 near Bridgestone, Merebank.

“A 43-year-old woman was raped and robbed by the suspect. The suspect wanted a relationship with the victim and provided false details of himself. The suspect has been on the run since the incident took place. A case of rape and common robbery was opened for investigation and a warrant of arrest has been issued by the court,” said Mbele.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is requested to urgently contact officer Det Const TA Bouverie at the Brighton Beach FCS Unit on 031 451 8059/ 081 046 3162 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
