VIDEO: One killed in horrific Durban CBD crash

The injured patients are currently being treated on scene by advance life support  paramedics. 

ONE person has been killed and many others seriously injured in a horrific accident on Pine Street, in the Durban City Centre, near Cathedral corner. 

According to reports from the scene, it is believed a bakkie travelling on the N3 veered off the road, overturned over the barrier and came to rest on a taxi at a taxi rank.

Advanced life support paramedic Garrith Jamieson said the taxi was empty, while the bakkie had two occupants.

“The driver, a male believed to be in his 30s, had sustained major injuries and unfortunately there was nothing more paramedics could do for him. He was declared deceased on the scene. The passenger, believed to be in his 20s, had sustained serious injuries and was stabilised on scene,” he said.
