Durban SAPS appeal for info on attempted rape of girl (15)

Assistance is being sought by Durban Central Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit in the case which occurred on 12 June.

DURBAN Central Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit is appealing to the community for assistance in solving a case of attempted rape it is investigating.

Commenting on the case, Sgt Zanele Khomo from Durban Central SAPS said it is alleged that on 12 June at around 5.55pm, a 15-year-old girl arrived home in Currie Road after visiting Musgrave Centre, and while she was opening the gate, a man in a  silver grey VW sedan approached her.

“The man grabbed her and pulled her into the vehicle, where there were another two men.”

“They tried to rape her but she fought back, and it helped that her jeans were too tight to be opened. The men ended up taking her cellphone and pushed her out of the vehicle,” said Khomo.

She said police believe the men they have identikits of can assist in solving the case.
