Celebrating Beethoven at Friends’ recital

Guest artist will be Steinway Artist Christopher Duigan, who will perform a tribute to Beethoven to celebrate the 250th anniversary of his birth.

THE Friends of Music Association will be hosting a live concert on Sunday, 18 October at the Durban Jewish Centre, 44 KE Masinga (Old Fort) Road, Durban, at 3pm.

Guest artist will be Steinway Artist Christopher Duigan, who will perform a tribute to Beethoven to celebrate the 250th anniversary of his birth.
The South African concert pianist has been recognised as a South African piano icon and has performed extensively with all leading South African orchestras in a repertoire of more than 25 works for piano and orchestra.

In recital he has developed a popular following through his innovative presentation and programming of a broad and eclectic taste in music. In recent months Christopher has established a massive online presence with twice-weekly livestream sessions during Covid-19.
As a soloist Christopher has appeared in major performances with orchestras and major recital engagements.

His programme on 18 October is Beethoven’s Sonatas OP. 27 No.1 & Op. 53 “Waldstein” and Schumann’s Fantasie Op. 17.
Tickets are R80. Pre-booking essential at friendsofmusic@webmail.co.za. Pay at the door. All Covid19 safety protocols will be observed.
